Sydney instrumental prog outfit sleepmakeswaves have had their second album ‘Love of Cartography’ nominated for an ARIA Award for ‘Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album.’

They are nominated alongside New Zealand’s Shihad, Brisbane’s DZ Deathrays and The Amity Affliction and Melbourne’s High Tension.

Last year’s winner in this category was Karnivool, with their third record ‘Asymmetry.’

Recorded in Byron Bay at Studio 301 with producer Nick DiDia (Karnivool, Pearl Jam, Powderfinger), the sleepmakeswaves album was supported by a successful crowdfunding campaign which raised over $30,000 to put towards the record.
