As far as OzProg goes, it doesn’t get bigger than this: our country’s two biggest progressive rock exports KARNIVOOL and DEAD LETTER CIRCUS have teamed up with post-rock trailblazers SLEEPMAKESWAVES for a massive Australian tour this summer.
The POLYMORPHISM tour is set to be the biggest showcase of Australian/NZ experimental rock since the mid-2000s when Karnivool, DLC, Cog, The Butterfly Effect and Shihad toured regularly together across theatres and festivals. Since then Karnivool and DLC have gone on to grow significantly, with this tour showcasing impressive venue sizes, including the 5,000 capacity Red Hill Auditorium.
Since debuting at #1 on the ARIA chart in July with their 3rd album ‘Asymmetry’, Karnivool have been hard at it. Now a major international draw, they’ve already appeared at a string of major European festivals this year includign Sonisphere France (80,000 people), Download UK (130,000 people) and Hurrican Germany (60,000 people). Karnivool are currently amidst their second European tour for 2014, this time headlining 25 shows throughout October and November, including sold out shows in London, Brussels, Munish and Paris. Their European tour concludes in November at the sold-out Koko theatre and recording a coveted Radio one Rock session at the legendary Maida Vale Studios in the UK.
With their second album ‘The Catalyst Fire’ landing Dead Letter Circus their secnod #2 ARIA chart position, the band are currently on a world tour. They have headlined the Kank’d Up festival in South Africa, toured the UK and Europe on a co-headline run with Monuments, played Euroblast Festival in Germany and are now on a North American tour with Periphery, Born Of Osiris and fellow Aussies Twelve Foot Ninja.
Sydney instrumental post-rock/prog quartet sleepmakeswaves have had an amazing run since the release of their debut album “…and so we destroyed everything.” Over the past two years, their busy schedule has included 7 Australian tours, 2 European tours, touring the USA and playing SXSW, supports for 65daysofstatic, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Karnivool – and an unprecedented nomination for an ARIA Award in 2012. Fresh from a mammoth 38-date tour of the UK and Europe, sleepmakeswaves will release their much-anticipated second album in 2014.
